Patricio
Anabalon belongs to the new generation of Chilean artists who
were raised under the influence of the political and social changes
that took place in South America during the 70s and the 80s. He
was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1975 and studied classical guitar
and music composition with maestro Christian Vasquez and jazz
guitarist Jorge Diaz.
He
has published two poetry collections (Madregora Inmortal in 1997
and El retrato final in 1998), while poems of his have been included
in various poetic anthologies. He has been awarded numerous honorary
distinctions, among which the first Enrique Gomez Correa Prize
in 1997. He has set to music the work of various authors and great
poets, like Octavio Paz, Andre Breton, Charles Baudelaire, Paul
Eluard, Yannis Ritsos, C.P. Cavafy, Miguel de Cervantes and Cesar
Vallejo.
Anabalon
has given many recitals and concerts in Chile, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina
and Brazil.
